Alice Brawley-Chesworth

Alice Brawley-Chesworth is a Postdoctoral Researcher at Dublin City University (DCU), working with the School of Law and Government on climate and environmental policy and politics.

She is currently splitting her time between the Co-Centre for Climate + Biodiversity + Water and the Horizon Europe RETOOL project.

Her research interests include policy and infrastructure decision processes, climate mitigation and adaptation, social and technological innovation, disciplinary cultures, and environmental justice.

Alice’s previous work includes a postdoctoral research position with DCU examining climate adaptation in Ireland using a political economy lens. Prior to moving into academia, Alice worked in the municipal water sector in the United States as a chemist, engineer, water resources advisor, and policy analyst.

She completed her Ph.D. in 2022 in Urban Studies, an interdisciplinary social science, at Portland State University. Her key research interest is in analysing the nature/society and built/natural environment relationships through science and technology studies, urban political ecology, human geography, and environmental justice perspective.
